Facebook has released a major update to its iOS application. Facebook for iPhone and iPad has been updated to version 10.0, bringing three major features: post preview, offline mode and a faster news feed for the older devices.
Post preview feature of Facebook 10.0 lets you see a preview of what you’re going to post/share on your Facebook wall, giving you a chance to change your posts if you want to. You may call it a suggestion feature because it will show you how the post will look after it’s been published.
Offline post is a decent addition to the app. This allows you to share your pictures, links, clips, etc. even in the absence of internet connection or weak connection (shocking idea), but in further details you come to know that this app takes your postings but share them later when get some strong internet connection.
Addition of Faster news feed feature in Facebook 10 will allow the older devices to load the newsfeed faster.
Here’s an official Facebook 10.0 change-log:
- Review what your post will look like and choose whether to remove any suggested links before sharing what you’re reading, watching or listening to
- Create posts even when your connection is weak or you’re in airplane mode, and they’ll be shared once your connection gets strong enough
- Improvements to make News Feed load faster, especially on older phones and tablets
Other than these three features one more thing which is going to be tested is “Facebook Now” feature, according to TechCrunch. Facebook Now are basically the Cards with contextual content suggestions that will appear in the feed to mobile apps.
One down side of this update is that the most recent news feed feature is nowhere to be found on the front of the app. It’s not gone, but buried deep down into the menus.
The Facebook iOS client is localized in almost 27 languages.
