The Apple iPad mini 2 or the iPad mini with Retina Display (as officially called) is now officially announced and it features 2048×1536 Retina display as found in the bigger iPad Air. Unveiled at an Apple ipad event held on October 22nd, the iPad mini with Retina display offers a combination of specs and a price point that may push it ahead of Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HDX. With the addition of Retina display in iPad mini 2, the price has also seen the effect of it. Unlike the original ipad mini, the 2nd generation iPad mini price will start at $399 and $529 for Wi-Fi only and cellular models respectively. The iPad mini 2 also comes with the following free apps from Apple: iPhoto, iTunes U, iMovie, Podcasts, GarageBand, Find My iPhone, Pages, Find My Friends, Numbers, Remote, Keynote, iTunes Trailers.
Apple didn’t kill the original iPad mini, which will now release at the $299 price point. The iPad mini 2 with Retina display will be available later in November.
