UntetheredJB is a new untethered jailbreak tool released for iPhone 4 CDMA model running iOS 5.1. A new group of hackers with no real name other than ‘UnthreadedJB’ has just released a new and first untethered jailbreak tool for iOS 5.1 firmware.
UnthreadedJB supports a year old firmware i.e, iOS 5.1. However, it’s the first untethered jailbreak released for iOS 5.1 as Absinthe 2.0 requires iOS 5.1.1 and RedSn0w was a tethered jailbreak.
This new untethered jailbreak supports on iPhone 4 CDMA variant running iOS 5.1 and is available for Linux OS only. The jailbreak has been confirmed working by various people across the web. The team has also released a video to prove that their jailbreak works.
No real information about the working of UnthreadedJB has been revealed yet, however, it is believed that the jailbreak is based on the previous exploits released by the established members of the Jailbreak community.
While you may not see the point of releasing a jailbreak for a firmware that is more than a year old, we take it as a good news as there’s now another group trying to work on jailbreaking iOS. The team is also believed to be working on iOS 6.1.3/6.1.4 jailbreak as opposed to the Team Evad3rs who has announced to not release a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 or iOS 6.1.4 for iPhone. It’ll be interesting if the team succeeds in releasing iOS 6.1.4 (iPhone) or iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak.
If you have an iPhone 4 CDMA running iOS 5.1 and a machine running Linux OS, and you want to jailbreak your device, go ahead and download UnthreadedJB.
