Jailbreak community is currently experiencing wonderful and rare period of time where they have an untethered jailbreak available for all iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices. Absinthe 2 jailbreak, developed by Pod2G, Chronic Dev-Team and iPhone Dev-Team, is an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1. It’s the best time to save iOS 5.1.1 SHSH blobs before Apple pushes an updated iOS and stops signing it.
In this guide you’ll learn how to save iOS 5.1.1 SHSH blobs either using Cydia or TinyUmbrella. You may never need them, but it’s better safe than sorry in the event that you do…
Why Save iOS 5.1.1 SHSH Blobs?
The only reason to save SHSH blobs for iOS 5.1.1 is to secure your future jailbreak. When Apple pushes a new firmware it’ll stop signing iOS 5.1.1, and it’ll be impossible to acquire blobs for 5.1.1. When Apple stops signing a firmware, you can NOT restore that firmware unless you have SHSH blobs saved for it. Firmware downgrade is not possible without SHSH blobs for the targeted firmware.
Apple will stop signing iOS 5.1.1 as soon as they push the next iOS update (5.1.2 or later). If you happen to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch by accident, with SHSH blobs saved you can go back to the previous iOS to recover your jailbreak depending on the downgrade method availability.
How To Save iOS 5.1.1 SHSH Blobs
For Jailbroken Devices
If your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch is already jailbroken, Open Cydia and see if Cydia has saved iOS 5.1.1 SHSH blobs. To verify whether or not Cydia has saved iOS 5.1.1 SHSH blobs:
Open Cydia;
