Save iOS 5.0.1 SHSH blobs [Reminder]

Notcom, the developer behind Tinyumbrella, has posted a reminder on his blog to all jailbreak community to save iOS 5.0.1 shsh blobs. Saving iOS 5.0.1 SHSH blobs is important if you want to keep your iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak in the future.

You should save your iOS 5.0.1 SHSH blobs while Apple is still signing it. If not, you could risk losing the ability to jailbreak in the future and Apple don’t let you save SHSH blobs for an older firmware as soon as a new iOS update is out.

This is what Notcom posted on his blog:

With the quiet time between jailbreak and iOS version, make sure you get your SHSHs saved. I’ve been working on the TinyUmbrella rewrite (albeit sparingly due to real life demands). It’s important to make sure you have your 5.0.1 SHSHs tucked away safe. There is no guarantee that we’ll have things this good again.

In case you accidently update to Apple’s upcoming iOS, you won’t be able to re-jailbreak for an unknown period of time. But with iOS 5.0.1 SHSH blobs saved, you can downgrade from latest firmware back to 5.0.1 and re-jailbreak it.

It’s been over a month since Apple pushed iOS 5.1 beta 3, so a public release of iOS 5.1 in the near future is highly anticipated and it’s highly like that the new software will patch the Corona exploit…
