Apple has officially sent out invites for their iPad 3 unveiling event, set for March 7, 10am PT at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. The invitation reads:
We have something you really have to see. And touch.
Apple has cleverly shown three app icons which hold subtle clues: San Francisco on Maps shows “where”, Wednesday, March 7 shows “When” and, the Keynote app icon conveys “what”. Unlike iPhone 4S invitation, iPad 3 press invite doesn’t show the Clock app because iPad lacks built-in Clock app.
Looking at the image in the invite with crisp icons and the wording used “something you really have to see” hints that Apple is already giving us a sneak peak at the iPad 3’s Retina Display.
Also interesting is the lack of the home button, the simplest explaination for that is the iPad 3 is in landscape orientation.
iPad 3 is widely rumored to bring Retina Display, quad-core processor, and 4G LTE network support. We’ll be covering the event on March 7th, stay tuned!
