iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak has been released in the form of RedSn0w (by iPhone Dev-Team) and Corona 5.0.1 Untether (by Chronic Dev-Team). There have been reports of folks having a Launchctl error. So, Saurik and the iPhone Dev-team has updated RedSn0w and Corona iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak to fix the “Launchctl Error”.
This is what Saurik tweeted about the fix for Launchctl error:
Corona (5.0.1 untether) apparently breaks `launchctl`; @planetbeing figured out what caused it, and I patched the package: upgrade to 1.0-2.
The launchctl issue also affects you if you used redsn0w to install the 5.0.1 untether. I have built 1.0-3, which can upgrade redsn0w users.
and here’s what iPhone Dev-team posted about the updated RedSn0w 0.9.10b2:
The b2 version of redsn0w includes the launchctl-related fix by @planetbeing as mentioned by @saurik. As usual, you can just re-run redsn0w in jailbreak mode over your existing 5.0.1 jailbreak (even a PwnageTool one), making sure to de-select “Install Cydia” if you do. Always be sure to do a controlled “slide to power off” shutdown of your device before running redsn0w.
If you are one of those jailbreakers facing Launchctl error, simply go to Cydia install/update Corona 5.0.1 untether or use RedSn0w 0.9.10b2 to re-jailbreak without selecting Cydia. Detailed guides can be found here:
