MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev-Team has tweeted an update about the latest iPhone 4S unlock. MuscleNerd confirms that a ‘very promising’ unlock for iPhone 4S is in the works.
This is what uscleNerd tweeted about the iPhone 4S unlock:
Crazy Thanksgiving weekend! Very promising 4S unlock (http://twitpic.com/7kku4t) is in the works (Not i4, just 4S..that’s crazy part)
There are no details available about this unlock except that it is, surprisingly, iPhone 4S specific. Obviously, it’ll require a jailbroken iPhone 4S and our guess is that it’ll come as an UltraSn0w update.
iPhone 4S jailbreak is already in the works. We’ve already reported about a a Preliminary jailbreak for iPhone 4S which will be released before this unlock.
If you’ve an iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS with an older baseband, you can jailbreak it on iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1 (Tethered or Semi Tethered) with RedSn0w and Sn0wbreeze and then unlock with UltraSn0w or Gevey SIM. You can preserve iPhone baseband with RedSn0w latest version. But users with newer basebands are still out of luck as this upcoming unlock is iPhone 4S specific.
Currently UltraSn0w supports: Baseband 4.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04, 06.15.00 and 01.59.00.
There’s no ETA on the UltraSn0w update. We’ll update you as soon as we know more about this iPhone 4S unlock.
