Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 with Sn0wBreeze 2.8b11

advertisement

Sn0wBreeze 2.8b11 is now available to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1. There’s nothing special about Sn0wbreeze when compared to RedSn0w jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 in terms of jailbreaking. Below is the detailed guide to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1…

IMPORTANT

Let’s jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 with Sn0wbreeze 2.8b11…

How to Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 with Sn0wBreeze

Downloads

Download the required stuff:

Step 1

Make sure you’re running iTunes 10.5 or later version. You can download iTunes 10.5 from here. Backup your personal data with iTunes.

Step 2

Run the Sn0wBreeze.exe. Hit Ok, then Close Credits button and then hit the next button.

Step 3

Either drag & drop the iOS 5.0.1 firmware file in the given box or hit the Browse button and select the iOS 5.0.1 IPSW file for your iDevice. Sn0wBreeze will identify the IPSW firmware file. When done, hit the next button.

Step 4

Select the Expert Mode, Hit next button, then select General and hit Next. Make your desired choices, then keep hitting Next.

Step 5

Now select the Build IPSW option and hit next. Sn0wBreeze 2.8b11 will start building custom iOS 5.0.1 firmware to jailbreak your iPhone 4, 3GS, idevice. Since the building process takes several minutes to complete, you can either choose to play PacMan or stick with the Spinner.

Once Done! Hit the OK button. (Custom firmware 5.0.1 can be found on desktop along with an iBooty folder)

Step 6

Now follow the Sn0wbreeze instructions to put your iDevices into Pwned State. Sn0wBreeze instructions are important to follow because this will put iDevice into Pwned DFU state NOT the simple DFU mode.

  • Hold Power + Home buttons for 10 seconds
  • Now release the Power button but keep holding the Home button for 10-30 more seconds

Your device should now be in DFU mode Sn0wBreeze will prompt you once you’re into Pwned DFU state.

Step 7

  • Now open iTunes, Hold down the Shift/Option key and hit the Restore button.
  • Browse and select the custom firmware that we just created, from the desktop.

iTunes will start restoring iOS 5 on your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch. Once done, your iPhone, ipad or iPod Touch will be running iOS 5 jailbroken tethered.

How to Tether Boot

Like I told you earlier, it’s a tethered jailbreak.

  • On your desktop, there’ll be a new folder named iBooty. Open the folder and run the iBooty.exe.
  • Select your device from the drop down menu (bottom-right) and hit the start button.
  • Follow the on screen instructions to put your iDevice into DFU mode.
    • Hold Power + Home buttons for 10 seconds.
    • Now release the Power button but keep holding the Home button for 10-30 more seconds
  • Your device should now be in DFU mode
  • Once you’re into DFU mode, iBooty will do the rest and your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch will boot into jailbroken state!

      Ultrasn0w doesn’t support yet iOS v5.0.1, only v5.0

    • Tomsiphone 14 November 2011 at 12:37 am #

I just JB’d my 3GS (old bootrom so it’s untethered)using sn0wbreeze ’11 and v5.0.1. Ultrasn0w worked fine. I have full bars and swapped SIMS with another carrier and it’s good.

Every phone is a little different, I guess.

you need to update it to the official firmware through itunes and jailbreak it through redsn0w. so that you can reinstall the baseband. or you can also downgrade your iphone to firmware 4.x through shsh and reinstall baseband.. i had the same problem and that’s how i got it fix.

    Hey!
So i’ve done everything allright (i guess) but it asks for the proper SIM to activate iPhone. I’m in europe, this phone was bought on ebay from german guy but i don’t know where he got it, so there’s no way to know what country is it from.

Is there any way to fix this? Do I have to wait for proper release? Or do i have to get the real simcard?
(I had the phone on 3.x.x for more than a year and a half, this was my first update.)
I’m running a 3gs, but no idea about the rest of details. I can’t go back to previous state as it stays locked on activation menus.

    Thanks

  15. Pirata 23 November 2011 at 5:55 pm #

    Ok, done it.
    Activation problem?
Just go to sn0wbreeze and do it on expert, select general and “activate” and you’re good to go.
Btw my base band is 05.16.05, so i can’t unlock it, going for ipad baseband

  16. wasim 25 November 2011 at 12:59 am #

Please help me…this teather jailbreak will work on baseband 4.10.01
