Greenpois0n to Jailbreak iPhone 4S and iPad 2 [5 New Userland Exploits Found]

P0sixninja and iOPK from the Chronic Dev Team announced, at MyGreatFest, that they have found record breaking 5 new exploits to jailbreak iPad 2 and the upcoming iPhone 4s.

During his talk about jailbreaking and Chronic Dev Team, at MyGreatFest, Joshua Hill (P0sixninja) announced that they have found 5 new exploits to jailbreak iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. These new exploits already work on iPad 2 and it seems like the Chronic Dev Team is ready to test this jailbreak on the iPhone 4S.

These 5 new exploits are all software level exploits and Apple can easily patch them in a software update after the jailbreak is out or the exploits are leaked. The good thing about software level exploits is that a hardware revision (new bootrom) in iPhone 4S won’t prevent Chronic Dev Team from jailbreak iPhone 4S.

Since these exploits are found in iOS 5, any device running iOS 5 including iPhone 4S should be vulnerable to these software-level exploits currently being cooked by the Chronic Dev Team.

What does this mean for end-user? Well, it basically means that iOS 5, iPad 2 and iPhone 4S should get an untethered jailbreak sooner than expected.

As per Jushua, the upcoming iOS 5 untethered jailbreak will be the “most amazing jailbreak yet”. The Chronic Dev Team will test this untethred jailbreak on iPhone 4S as soon as the device hits the shelves.

Chronic Dev Team members P0sixninja, and P0d2g are the key developers behing Greenpois0n jailbreak which was the first untethered jailbreak released for iOS 4.2.1 firmware. P0d2g is also famous for his popular exploits like 24kpwn, steaks4uce and an exploit found in A4 chip used in current-gen idevices, except iPad 2.

After this announcement, at the first jailbreak convention, the Chronic Devt Team is bound to release an iOS 5 jailbreak soon after its launch. We have our hopes high for iPhone 4S jailbreak as well.

We will update you as we know more about the iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and iOS 5 jailbreak. Stay Tuned!

i have a question here:
if this is true, why cant they jailbreake ios 4.3.5 till now.

Because it’s useless to put so much effort and time on a FW which brings minor updates… + it’ll be a waste of exploit

iKnow: simply because they will be wasting the exploits is they release the jailbreak now. As simple as that.

will the new jailBreak also break older version ? or do we have to use specific Release for certain iOS ?

RRoD420 September 21, 2011, 12:09 am

Please don’t release this until ios 5 is released!!

having said that, wouldn’t that just let Apple know there’s a bug so they can patch it up before releasing iOS 5.0 ?
