iPhone 3G is Now Unlocked for Life, on Baseband 06.15.00

Any iPhone 3G, with baseband 06.15.00, is now unlocked for life. Since iPhone 3G won’t be getting any firmware update starting iOS 4.3, your iPhone 3G will remain unlocked for life. MuscleNerd also confirmed this in a tweet:

“Because there’s no 4.3 beta for iPhone3G, it’s effectively unlocked for life via the 06.15 ultrasn0w unlock”

Note: This is applicable to all those iPhone 3G owner who have updated their iPhone 3G to Baseband 06.15.00. (How to: Check iPhone Baseband version)

No future firmware update is a bad news for iPhone 3G baseband 06.15.00 users, because most of them are experiencing GPS issues. The Dev Team is aware of the GPS problem, and currently working on a way to downgrade iPhone 3GS 06.15.00 Baseband with iOS 4.3 firmware.

How many of you have an iPhone 3G or 3GS with baseband 06.15.00 and are experiencing GPS issues? Go wild in the comments section below…

I had the battery drain issue too, but I re-applied the IPSW and set it up as a new phone in iTunes and life is great now. EVERY time I tried to restore a backup, it drained battery like a rock…….

Yeah, GPS issues on 3gs 6.15.00 =(

haragog January 19, 2011, 5:38 pm

I really want 4.2 (better iP3g performance) but updating to a faulty baseband doesn’t seem like a good option! I was getting pretty pumped up with the early prospect of new method with sn0wbreeze, or whatever. But I guess, we’ve been forgotten.
Please devs, if our iPhones are never going to be updated again please let them go with proud/a bang!

ow If you want to downgrade your Baseband.

1. Download the file –> SiNfuL iPhone
2. Install Fuzzyband from Cydia
3. Download Ifunbox
4. Connect IPhone to Compuetr
4. Open Ifunbox and click on /Raw file system/Applications/Fuzzyband.app
5. Copy the ICE2-06.15.00.cert file
6. Now open Fuzzyband in Iphone
7. You can see current 6.15 and downgrade 5.13 Press downgrade, Thats it

Now it will downgrade your baseband to 5.13. Now you can enjoy installing again 4.2 or whatever….your phone is back to normal…..

aristamaster June 15, 2011, 6:29 pm

I get a error in fuzzyband saying downgrading will only work with bootloader 05.08. am i doing something wrong?

ely February 27, 2011, 10:49 am

I updated my iOS firmware to 4.2 and my baseband is now 6.15.00. I was able to jailbreak my iphone and installed ultrasn0w successfully. However, my iphone can’t still recognized my other sim cards from other networks. Can someone help me with this issue? There’s always a pop up on my iphone that no sim card is installed.. Thanks in advance. More power!

ely February 27, 2011, 11:14 am

I ran my red snow jailbreak not by “run as administrator”. I just simply open it. What will be the results or problems I will encounter on my iphone when I ran the redsnow not by “run as administrator”? I am thinking this might be the reason why my phone can’t still recognized another sim even after jailbreaking with redsnow and unlocking with ultrasnow. Please help. Thanks in advance.

GPS issue present in mine. Anything coming up to fix it?

Aiwa614 March 19, 2011, 9:49 am

hey every one I just unlocked iphone my on 6.15.00 on tmobile. As most of you have found out the GPS does not work. well I have found a fix!!!!! here is what i did:

Step 1: Start Cydia and th
en add http://cmdshft.ipwn.me/apt/ repo in the Cydia sources.
Step 2: Once the repo has been added, simply search for “Push Doctor” app in Cydia and install it.

Step 3: Reboot your iPhone.

Step 4:Start up maps And now it works(at least it did for me)

bobbins March 17, 2011, 1:29 pm

I have 3GS 4.2.1 iOS with baseband 6.15.00 jailbroek with redsn0w and GPS does not work, wife has newer 3GS 4.2.1 iOS with fixed 5.14.xx baseband and jailbroke and unlocked it with greenpois0n untethered and her GPS works fine.

Aiwa614 March 19, 2011, 11:06 pm

Step 1: Start Cydia and th
en add http://cmdshft.ipwn.me/apt/ repo in the Cydia sources.
Step 2: Once the repo has been added, simply search for “Push Doctor” app in Cydia and install it.
Step 3: Reboot your iPhone.
Step 4:turn wifi on get location from a wifi network leave wifi on and when you go out of rang of you wifi network it will still work (on tmobile Edge) I did look at it when i was on the road I am connected on the tmobile edge not wifi I dont know why the wifi has to be on but it works
Step 5:start up maps And now it works(at least it did for me)

Someone March 21, 2011, 8:08 am

Right now i have a iPhone 3G with a baseband of 5.15.04 but I am on the
4.2.1 firmware why don’t I have the 6.15 baseband please explain I really need Tmobile as my carrier

Aiwa614 March 21, 2011, 4:17 pm

did you try to put your t-mobile sims in? what does it do. in order to get my 3g to work i had to go to baseband 06.15.00 version 4.1 (8B117)

Aiwa614 March 21, 2011, 4:20 pm

but with that baseband you have the problem with the GSP not working!! but my post earlier will walk you though on how to fix it.

aristamaster March 21, 2011, 6:45 pm

Tried push doctor – iphone 3gs 4.2.1 on 6.15.00 still no gps signal – same as before – pushdoctor installed correctly thru cydia – any more suggetions? i have a gps logger that works when it wants to which sucks but that is the only way for gps still

Aiwa614 March 21, 2011, 7:19 pm

did you turn you wifi on. that has to be on for it to work (even know it it not connected to anything) I was on the road away from my WIFI(not connected) turned it of and lost GPS..I dont know why that work but it does (for me at least) if that does not work connect to wifi network go to maps then refresh location then walk out of wifi rang and see if it still works. (keep wifi on

Aiwa614 March 21, 2011, 7:21 pm

let me know it it works for you

Aiwa614 March 21, 2011, 9:46 pm

When you go to maps does the GPS give you a ramdom location or does it not work at all? Mine gives me a random location if the wifi is off. When wifi is on I am not connected to a network

You could try is one from Cydia Add source apt.macosmovil.com
Download push fix. It when push fix is done installing it will ask you to reboot. When it boots up turn I wifi see if you can get a gps singal on or of wifi signal. Remember wifi has to be on at all times connected or not

aristamaster March 21, 2011, 7:37 pm

Nope no -go no gps signal
only thing that works so far is a blue tooth logger i got but its broken and only works when it wants to – guess ill keep using my old garmin, it ALWAYS works. guess the iphone is only good for calls and playing angry birds.

Aiwa614 March 21, 2011, 8:01 pm

Can you connet to a wifi net work? if so connet to it and see if gps works on wifi

aristamaster March 21, 2011, 8:18 pm

yep on wi fi — no gps signal

Aiwa614 April 7, 2011, 4:40 am

What carrier are you trying to use? It has to be a GSM network (Global System for Mobile Communications) At&t and t-mobile are the only GSM networks in the US in the US

Aiwa614 April 7, 2011, 7:27 am

one thing you could try is to turn the 3G off.. on tmobile it has to be off for it to work… you can do that by going to “setting” “General” “network” turn 3g off. if that do not work for you i have know idea. do some some digging there is some forms on line talking about using the iphone on digicel. ket me turning off the 3g works for you

rami May 10, 2011, 3:08 am

Can someone please give me the steps to unlock my 3G Thank you in advance

Aiws715 May 10, 2011, 6:39 am

Get a program called blackran install on computer then do every exactly what it say to do. If you don’t it will mess up your phone. After you unlock it you can NEVER up date it with iTunes.

I have a 3G with 4.2.1 and used the youtube fix #1 from cydia and my GPS working without problems. it could be that you have to use fix # 2 or 3 you just have to try. but uninstall the previous fix to get the actual fix working.
