GPS Not Working on Baseband 06.15.00? [Dev-Team's Response] - iPhoneHeat

GPS Not Working on Baseband 06.15.00? [Dev-Team’s Response]

After updating to baseband 06.15.00 with RedSn0w or PwnageTool and then unlocking with UltraSn0w, many people started reporting about GPS not working and battery drain problems. We have already shared a temporary fix for battery drain issue. About the GPS issue on baseband 06.15.00, checkout the Dev-Team’s comments after the jump…

Unlockers have been reporting mixed results about GPS functionality at 06.15.00. Until we can track down what differentiates those who retain GPS vs. those who lose it, be conservative and assume you’ll lose GPS at 06.15.00. As we work on finding the cause (and possibly a fix), please report your personal findings in our comments section. (Update: early indications are that while 06.15.00 is capable of GPS, it will require some further hacks. But please still be conservative and assume you will lose GPS at 06.15, in case the hacks don’t work).

So, the Dev-Team does not currently have a fix for the GPS issue on Baseband 06.15.00 and says that, you should just assume you will lose GPS capabilities when unlocking 06.15.00. However, they are still working on a fix for the problem. [via Dev-Team Blog]

We’ll keep you updated as soon as a fix for GPS on Baseband 06.15.00 comes out. Stay Tuned!

Iphone uses 3 methods of find your location. wifi, cell towers, and gps. If your gps isn’t working it’ll fallback onto the other 2 methods and you wouldn’t even know. An indicator of gps working is when the blue dot is pulsing a bright blue glow outwards from the blue dot.

or if you really want to make sure, take your sim out, turn off wifi, then run maps. after a few minutes you will know if your gps is still working or not.

What boot loader are you on? 5.09 or 6.04. I have followed the guide step by step, and I just can’t get my wifi to work. It is not greyed out it is black. Reseting network does not work. I also tried buying and changing the antenna, and still the same problem. Could anyone please give any attention to people with similar problems. Thank you.

I recently jailbreaked my iphone 3G 4.2.1 BB 05.15.04 to 4.2.1 ipsw w/ 06.15.00 firm. My wifi didn’t work at all, no GSM no anything. After messing around, I install version 4.1 w/ 06.15.00 and everything was working fine. No problem with battery or wifi. This is tested only on 3G, hope it help.

Tarique December 3, 2010, 3:11 pm

isnt there a possibility the u can jailbreak iPhone 4 Baseband with 2.10.04 (after jailbeaked) to 04.26.08, 05.11.07, or 05.13.04 baseband that way its unlockable in the ultrasn0w list of bb
i know its an obvoius weird suggestion but hypothetically is that possible dev curious to hear back from u?

draco809 December 4, 2010, 3:11 pm

elgenio200081 December 5, 2010, 3:29 pm

i have an iPhone 3GS old bootroom and i don’t have the GPS issue

David May 30, 2011, 9:56 pm

Thats interesting… Might be part of the solution?

I have a 3g on 4.1 and baseband 06.15 and its start to get no GPS and battery issue, so I’m looking to by a 3gs, but baseband is twitching my mind… its a old bootroom too that i’m gonna buy, so maybe GPS will make it? Because I really need it…

Poolboy December 7, 2010, 1:57 am

go here or just read the below. if u did that ipad/redsnow jailbreak unlock and now ur stuck with recovery and itunes with work with ur iphone cause of ipad firware on it.

first of all if u jailbrked with the ipad firmware with redsnow….and took the risk in order to unlock..now ur iphone has the ipad firmware…and now ur stuck at recovery…and when u try to jailbreak again u get an error (the above picture posted by swoosh0217

here is what i did that helped me, after 2 days of searching.

first of all, (You have to restore to a 4.2.1 custom firmware made with pwnage tool)
since i am on windows operating system, i can’t make the custom filmware since pwnage is a mac program…..so what i did is that i searched for one that was already made. the link is below

so 2 things we will need is, 1. the custom firmware made with pwnage, and 2. ireb

NOTE: PLEASE WHEN WE BEGIN, U WILL NEED TO PUT UR IPHONE IN DFU MODE (SCREEN SHOULD BE BLACK) AND NOT RECOVERY MODE.

In recovery mode itune won’t let u restore because it will say u can’t restore because of that ipad firmware.
In DFU mode: when u try to restore in itunes (with the custom firmware) u will also get an error number…ireb will fix this.

oky lets start, i just hope u understood what i wrote above.

here are the steps

first download the custom firmware 4.2.1 for 3gs made with pwnage tool in mac (thanks to the person that unloaded it
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6JVZF92E

second. Download ireb http://hotfile.com/dl/82634505/85622…1-RC2.zip.html

third. put ur iphone in dfu mode and open itunes and shift seletect the custom firmware u downloaded….u should get error like 1601..
if u get the error, open ireb and select iphone 3gs and let it do its thing and when its done now try to restore again with itunes (third step again) and error wont come up again.

then now rejailbreak again with redsnow.
thank you,

lenjung December 7, 2010, 8:21 pm

Does this fix the GPS problem, or is it just another way to jailbreak/unlock (assuming someone is having issues doing it the originally prescribed way)?

jamesyujing December 10, 2010, 4:33 am

Rado December 26, 2010, 2:15 pm

Hi guys!
I have iphone 3gs ios 4.1 and BB 6.15, the gps it’s not working! Any solutions?
Pls reply…

Dmitriy January 15, 2011, 4:08 pm

I unlocked 2 iphone 3g recently. I have no problem with gps. The iphones running on iOS 4.1. I heard that to avoid the problems with gps you must not use iOS 4.2.1 on 3G.

3G 4.2.1 - 6.15.00 March 14, 2011, 7:44 pm

and if you already have the 4.2.1, what should you do to make this GPS works again?

kris January 24, 2011, 11:25 pm

hi,

if sum can help pls email me.

I bought a unlocked/jailbroken iphone 3g recently and so did my girlfriend. Exactly the same except my details are
version 4.2.1 and modem firmware 06.15.00

Her iphone is
Version 4.2.1. and modem firmware is 05.15.04

so version is the same, firmware is different.

Basicly my GPS does not work at all, ever, period! nothing!

Hers work absolutely amazing, perfect position, perfect turn by turn directions, 100% fully function gps system which you can use with complete confidence even on the most complicated long journeys.

So the question is, do i have a deadly combination of firmware and version? and she doesnt?

IF i do, is there anything i can do?

many thanks,

KRis.

I have iphone 3g 4.2.1 with 06.15.00 baseband and now when I pick a contact then touch text message my iphone goes into safe mode.. any suggestions on what may be causing the problem and is their a fix. I have added 2 cydia sources hackulos and bingner to get hackulos and SAM and SAM pref and nothing more.

philipone May 2, 2011, 1:59 am

you have to turn off multitasking…it’s killing your memory. Look for “ztoggle” on cydia and it will help. cheers

I have no GPD on my iphone 3GS after upgrading to 4.2.1 and BB 6.15 etc etc
