How to Update iPhone 4 to iOS 4.1 Without Updating Baseband 01.59.00

In this guide you’ll learn how to update iPhone 4 to iOS 4.1 without updating baseband 01.59.00 which is unlockable.

Restoring iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4 also updates its baseband 01.59.00 to 2.10.4 which is NOT unlockable at the moment. So, iOS 4.1 is an alarming update for all those depending on unlock. Lets learn how to use TinyUmbrella to update iPhone 4 to iOS 4.1 while preserving baseband 01.59.00.

How to Update iPhone 4 to iOS 4.1 Without Updating Baseband 1.59.00

Step 1

Download TinyUmbrella 4.1.3
Download iOS 4.1 for iPhone 4

Step 2

Run TinyUmbrella
***READ THE README TinyUmbrella README NOW Yes. You Read it.
Hit the Save My SHSH button or use advanced options to save SHSH blobs for iPhone 4 iOS 4.1.

Step 3

Hit the Start TSS Server button
It will kill iTunes.

Step 3

Check for ANY errors.
Now open the iTunes. Hold down the SHIFT (Windows) or Alt/Option (Mac) key and hit the Restore button on iTunes.
Then browse and select your downloaded iOS 4.1 firmware

Step 4

Let iTunes error with 1004 error (baseband update failed – we want this )

No simply hit the Kick Device Out of Recovery button on TinyUmbrella.

That’s it. You have successfully updated iPhone 4 to 4.1 with 1.59.00 baseband. Now wait for a new jailbreak tool to come out and then you’ll be able to jailbreak Use the guides linked below to jailbreak and unlock iPhone 4 on iOS 4.1:

    make sure you save shsh blobs for iOS 4.1 first.. via tinyumbrella ..
    Then run the TSS Server. Make sure there’s no error.
    Then restore

      I found the solution in a different howto explanation. In umbrella press adavance options and select firmware version 4.1. Then it will work.

Hi.. i’m having trouble now. Of course, my friend bought me an Iphone 4 ver 4.02 in USA for me. but i’m leaving in Asia right now….!! The problem is my iphone now doesn not have cydia (It is original from USA) so i don’t no y? One more, i can not use GSM sim for sure…So how to do it this? even i try to restore but it’s damn still..Please help me…Thanks

  you need to wait for 4.1 jailbreak since the 4.0.2 jailbreak is not coming. i am having the same problem. i have 4.0.2 fw so all we need to do is to wait… thanks to these guys who make that happen. once again thank you folks…

Hey iPhone-Heat,
I have question pls, I couldn’t fine the guide in site,
I have an iPhone 3Gs 16gigs with FW 4.0(8A93) & BB 05.13.04-
I jail-broken it via jailbreakme last August and unlocked it by UltraSn0w 1.1-1 * I got my iPhone from Orange UK, early of 2010. lol
I wanted to Restore it with the same FW.4.0(8A93) but, I don’t know is’t easily without effects if I pressed ** shift & restore button on iTunes. or it would change something and I never could install the iOS 4.0 again, I have saved my SHSH Blob, But I don’t want to reply what Happen with me in 3.1.3. is any post in site would teach me how to restore my iOS-4.0(8A93).

    How do you save SHSH blobs for 4.1 first if you aren’t on 4.1 yet? You have to install 4.1 then save but then your baseband is already altered. I don’t get it. How is SHSH blob saved when you are still on 4.0.1?

i have done this and it worked. i jailbreak my phone using limerain. however i cant find my facetime and mms tabs anymore under my settings. how do i fix this?

  I had that off the first jailbreak. Before you could remove your Sim card with the phone powered on then put it back in with power on.

The first steps worked for me got to 1004 erro. but when i tried to klick on “kick device out of recovery mode” nothing happens. What should i do?

my iPhone 3gs-hit stuck in recovery mode I have tried to kick it out with Tiny-umbrella but it wont, ummm when i tried to upgrade it normally with official firmware it keeping stick in the middle of restoring loading icon, ummm so what’sup with it???

HI my iphone 4 is AT&T Locked OS 4.1 BASEBAND 05.10.04

what should i do after the release of 4.2? should i update it to 4.2? or should i update it to 4.2 without updating the baseband or is it ok to update both iOS and baseband thanks. btw i need to unlock it ….i really don’t know what to do with my case.
