Lockdown Pro: Password Protect iPhone Applications

Lockdown Pro, the paid version of the popular Lockdown ‘free’ app for iPhone and iPod Touch is now available in Cydia. With Lockdown Pro, you can password protect applications on iPhone and iPod Touch just like the free version.

NOTE: The free version of Lockdown supports upto OS 3.1.3.

Lockdown Pro Description

Lockdown Pro is simplest way to password protect your iPhone applications. It works on all modern firmwares (3.x – 4.x) on all iDevices except the iPad (which will be compatible pending an update). If you have used Lockdown before, this is a major update.

Lockdown Pro Features

  • NO extra application for Lockdown Pro’s settings! They are now in your Settings application.
  • NO respringing required!
  • Choose between and alphabetic or numeric password.
  • Custom passwords now! You can set different passwords for individual applications.
  • Delay Lock. This feature will allow you to unlock any application and the rest of them stay unlocked until you lock your device.
  • Graphic, speed and stability improvements as well!

Since LockDown Pro does not install any application, please go to your settings application, then scroll down till you see Lockdown Pro to set it up after you install it.

Planned Updates for Lockdown Pro

  • Improved graphics
  • Be able to lock complete folders (on iOS 4)
  • Make locking/unlocking an app even faster! By directly being able to do so from your SpringBoard!
  • And more features!

You can purchase and download Lockdown Pro from Cydia Store for $1.99. Your iPhone/iPod Touch MUST be jailbroken. Jailbreak guides are linked below.

All apps are in there, AfRoo. I downloaded this last night and it’s better than I expected. I still had to change spotlight search to get rid of contacts so that my son couldn’t get to my contacts and call that way, but clicking on locked applications from the search bar brings up the passcode dialog box, so that’s a new fix.

My only problems are that currently two features are missing that are claimed to be included: locking folders and locking from springboard. Perhaps there are just no instructions, currently, but there are no screenshots for this either.

One enhancement I’d like to see, as well, is an SBSettings toggle for this, but I’m not sure who normally makes those.

Hey, thanx for the details and goodluck. 😀

Hello, I GOT it, it pretty Good thing, but it Doesnt Work with me As I want, HOW ??
I installed it, to Protect my
1- Emails
2- Contacts
3- SMS
4- Photos.
well, it worked with my Photos but I STILL CAN WATCH my Photos through my Cam, so I dealed with it and protected my Cam too 😉
but the Big mistake is, I couldnt find way to protect my Emails & Contacts Details and also my SMS.. How??
when I click the App directly from * HOME SCREEN* it Shows me ** PLEASE ENTER YOUR PASSWORD **
that’s fantastic but fore example if I want to see my emails and I dont know the password I can easly click * HOME BUTTON * to go to * SEARCH BAR * and write there, this symble( @ ) so it will give me all the emails I have in my iDEVICE. without asking me for Password.
also with the contact Details, Do the same steps but put in the * SEARCH BAR * ANY NAME and easly it will show you all the CONTACTS having the same Name.
and with SMS, I did the same steps and wrote there in * SEARCH BAR* whoever name or whatever Word like ( HI, HEY, OR HELLO ) and it showed me all everything including this word,
then easily click Back and opps I got into my Protected app without my Password. so ummmm I DON’T KNow what to say but I felt like I paid (( 1.99 USD )) for nothing. is any Help iPHONE-HEAT ??

Perhaps you didn’t understand what I said when I described the program. Your problems can be fixed, and easily.

The spotlight search apparently gets around opening the application directly, and since I rarely use spotlight search for anything but searching for apps, you can filter what spotlight searching shows.

The way to filter spotlight search is to go into Settings > General > Spotlight Search. From there, unselect everything but apps.

You should be good to go!

Hello developers.
I bought lockdown pro two days ago when I got my new iPhone 4. I was working awesome just before today when it crashed and never worked after that.
What happened actually I was using a different password to lock the apps other than the master password. But when I tried using one more password for another set of apps, it never worked after that. Even no other app worked after that. Every single app on my iPhone failed to start until I started my iPhone in safe mode and uninstall the lockdown pro. I even tried installing it once again, but same thing happened again. So is thr any fix for this problem? Please help

Hello All,

I’ve just paid for and installed the LOCKDOWN PRO version on my iPhone 4.

After paying, downloading, and re-springing the spring board ALL MY APPLICATIONS are locked up and will not start.

Cydia is no longer accessible. No App starts. I’ve rebooted the phone several times and still the problem exists.

I’ve just spent 4 days installing apps and optimizing for all my needs, and now this. It has rendered my iphone a brick.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. As for up to this point I have been completely pleased with the iPhone 4.

Michael

Bought Lockdown Pro yesterday and as with the two posters above me the app does not seem to work on my iPhone 3GS 4.0.1.

After installation trying to open ANY app that can be locked seems to freeze with a with screen. It never gets to the point of asking you for a password.

Hopefully you can sort something out soon enough, but if you need me to test/check anything, logs etc let me know.

Thanks for the great app and hopefully you can get it sorted soon as I use this the whole time.

Joe.

*ANOTHER* user here for whom this pay application has bricked my device (iPod Touch 2G). NOTHING loads anymore; if I go to settings I get the pattern background and that’s it. Can’t even uninstall the application now, because I also get a black screen with blue toolbar and black bar at the bottom, but no data.

I should have taken the cue from the free version of the application, which crashed every time I used it regardless of how many times I rebooted the phone. The author is obviously a crank; whatever platitudes he claims about testing the application are obviously bogus because I find it /REALLY/ difficult to believe that testing with even 3 users wouldn’t have revealed complete device failure on at least one and sent him back to the drawing board.

Does anyone have contact information for the author? I would dearly like to get in touch with him to tell him what I think of his app, and ask for my money back.

I sorted this out and posted a solution to a page on thebigboss’ own web server:

http://thebigboss.org/2010/08/16/lockdown-pro-password-protect-your-applications-now-released#comment-26877

I hope it helps anyone else who has got into the same predicament as me. Not only did I completely restore access to all applications but lockdown pro now works as advertised as well. Wish I had my 3 hours back this morning, but shit happens.

Hi

I have got the same problems as others whereas all the applications were frozen after the installation of Lockdown Pro. I have to go to safemode, remove the lockdown pro to be able to open all the applications.

Okay I got it figured out with some help with other people. You will need to ssh into your phone. I did it through my computer in about 2 mins. 2 – Run ssh then navigate to the following path:

+ var
+ mobile
+ Library
+ Preferences

3 – Now, look in the right hand pane for a file beginning with this:

com.iptm.lockdown*.plist (I myself did not have that file but did have the other one that is down on this explanation a little farther).

4 – Delete all files found matching this pattern. There should be only one.

5 – Finally, locate a file in the same folder called “LockdownDylibEnabled” (this be the one i had) and delete it as well.

You should now be able to access applications normally — no need to reboot. Lockdown Pro shows up in the menu for me, and works correctly.

Hey, Download iFunbox then click in the search bar then TYPE, LOCKDOWN PRO, delete every result says “LOCKDOWN PRO” that will allow you to delete the from ur iDEVICE and CYDIA too, if u need it again, just enter the source in cydia again…
