     Are you retarded? If you would’ve read. It’s for the iPhone 4! Not 3GS. Yes it’ll work on 3GS… But it’s to fix reception on the new iPhone… Not 3GS…. Damn people are dumb.

       Nope, the new firmware is for all iphone. According to Jobs, all the iphones display incorrect signal strength. Weather you believe it’s true or not is up to you.

     I agree, it’s hardware problem and can’t be fixed on iPhone4. Just don’t hold your phone in a normal way or use duct tape like Consumer Reports recommends.

   Anyone else experiencing issues with Ios4?
   Upgraded my 3GS to 4.0 a few weeks ago and occasionally the phone suddenly restarts and goes to apple logo for a long time, then finally homescreen appears.
   Also phone has called people on it’s own. Never had that happen before in the last 4 years owning iPhone.
   Wifi icon dosent always show when connected to wifi.
   The phone uses much more memory and can be slow at times.

     i have 3gs ios4 and ive never had any problems with it since the day it came out and im the wifi all day long !
     u should try to restore ur iphone that should do the treat im guessing it did not install completely or correctly on ur iphone !

   I downloaded IOS 4.0.1 firmware from this site – how do I use this to upgrade my phone?
   My phone is currently running on 3.1.3 with spirit jailbreak.
   I saved shsh with Tiny Umbrella – it shows as 4.0.1.shsh – is that correct? I thought it would show as 3.1.3

     There is no need to download this firmware. Upgrade to 4.0.1 from iTunes, then use jailbreakme.com or jailbreakme.modmyi.com to jailbreak from your iPhone. Then unlock with ultratrasn0w from cydia. Good luck.

    Thanks for the reply Smitty. I already downloaded the ios 4. Do I have to download it through iTunes again or is there another way to install the already downloaded ios. I’m a little short on bandwidth and would prefer not downloading it again if at all possible.

      I had some major issues with the iOS4 downloaded from above so can’t recommend using it. It’s always best to use the latest firmware, there are some bugs that were fixed. I think it would be worth the time to download the new 4.0.1 direct from iTunes, then jailbreakme.modmyi.com from iPhone browser.

        dear i upgraded my iphone 3gs as told by you,i used itunes to upgrade it to 4.0.1 from 3.1.3. Now i’m stuck at Emergency Call Screen! (I’m not blaming you ) i have a new bootrom 3Gs and i don’t have official carrier sim with me and i’m completely unaware about my official carrier! how can i by-pass it now? this happen when we upgrade the iphone using itunes..i have one more 3GS with me,same type,new bootrom etc but its on 3.1.3..can i upgrade it with some custom firmware so i don’t have to activate it afterwards,is it possible?

          I’m sorry for your situation. Try this method using phonebook sim to hacktivate the phone. Hope it helps.

            well i did it like that. But now what i’m facing is even more strange, i don’t know why its doing like this now. I activated my phone using the PHONEBOOK sims,it got activated. Then,when i inserted my sim in it and unlocked it…a screen of emergency call is back saying A Different sim is detective,connect to itunes. And Itunes is again saying to insert official carrier sim. Again whole process again,but still when i insert my sim it goes back to activation.

            i hope you have some solution for this too.

    I used jailbreak 2.0 on Saturday and it worked fine on my 3gs 4.0.1. I came to work to help a coworker do the same and after we enter the jailbreakme.com url in safari and slide to jailbreak it just times out. Is this a problem with the load on the jailbreakme.com server or is there a problem with my coworker’s iPhone?

    Just a quick question, a work mate has updated to 4.0.2 and wants to drop back down to 4.0.1. He has downloaded the 4.0.1 firmware and done the whole shift+click restore but iTunes tells him he firmware is not compatible.

    I am assuming it’s too late for him to jump back down to 4.0.1? Is this because Apple is no longer signing 4.0.1?

    I’m pretty poor at anything technical and I’m trying to downgrade from the 4.0.2 to 4.0.1, but the 4.0.1 I have downloadedting to be restored in iTunes. What am I doing wrong?

    Can somebody help me creating one IPSW file (which has to be run later on itunes for a restore) I just downloaded 4.0.1 from this site..and now what i see in the folder is 2 subfolders and 3 DMG files :S there’s no IPSW file in the folder. what to do with these file?how to restore with these file?
    your guidence will be appreciated alot!

        now that something really weird! there’s a zip folder having 3 dmg files in it. I’m looking for one IPSW file of 4.0.1,anyone know from where i can get it? or someone help me with these 3 DMG files,how to restore with these files! regards

          I’m having the same problem. I’ve downloaded the firmware file but only see .dmg files. I tried to rename the name zip file to a .ipsw but there is nothing in those files when I go to redsn0w
