It seems that the unlock for baseband 05.12.01 for iPhone 3GS, 3G running OS 3.1.3 will be out soon. MuscleNerd, has confirmed the release of the tool to unlock Baseband 05.12.01 for both iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G with the release of iPhone 4G loaded with iPhone OS 4.0 GM.
Update: UltraSn0w 0.93 is Out Now! It can unlock all basebands for iPhone 3GS and 3G. (Check the Updates at the bottom)

Why to hold off an unlock for baseband 05.12.01 OS 3.1.3, when the newer firmware will bring newer baseband?? Answer is, dev-team want to test the same exploit on iPhone 4G OS 4.0 and if it worked, it’ll the best thing ever happened in iPhone hacking world and if it doesn’t, we shall have PwnageTool to safely update to OS 4.0 while preserving baseband at 05.12.01.
If you’re waiting for OS 3.1.3 baseband 05.12.01 unlock, make sure not to upgrade to OS 4.0 unless Dev-team confirms an unlock for OS 4.0 baseband and those with older firmwares also avoid OS 3.1.3 unless unlock for baseband 05.12.01 comes out.
Apple is expected to announce iPhone 4G at WWDC 2010 which will be loaded with iPhone firmware 4.0 on June 7th. So, we’re less than a week away to know when the unlock iPhone baseband 05.12.01 is coming out.
