Comex has finally released the spirit Jailbreak for the untethered jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3, iPad 3.2 and iPod Touch 3.1.3. Spirit was expected to be released on last Friday but the developer hold it to allow time to save SHSH blobs for iPad 3G, WiFi, iPhone 3GS 3.1.3 and iPod Touch 3G 3.1.3. According to Comex, Spirit is a userland jailbreak, just not Safari based.

Spirit jailbreak What’s Spirit?

Spirit is an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on the latest firmwares.
Spirit is not a carrier unlock.
If you currently are using a tethered jailbreak, you have to restore to use Spirit. Do not upgrade if you use an unlock on an iPhone 3G or 3GS. (You can, however, restore to 3.1.2 if you have SHSH blobs for that version.)

Requirements

Spirit Jailbreak supports Any iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch on firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.2.
An activated device: one not stuck on the Connect to iTunes or Emergency Call screen.
Any version of iTunes 9 (including 9.1.1).
Syncing with iTunes before trying this highly recommended.

Note: On iPad, all this is still sort of beta. Some packages in Cydia, not designed for iPad, might screw up your system and require you to restore. Be careful. (And no, Cydia’s appearance is not final.)

SHSH blobs are not used in jailbreak, but you do need it to restore or downgrade an older firmware if something goes wrong or you accidentally upgrade. For 3.1.2 (required for blackra1n, etc.), Apple is no longer handing out blobs, but for 3.1.3 and 3.2, you can still get blobs– and should do so ASAP! To do this, if you are currently jailbroken, just open Cydia; if you are not, I recommend using The Firmware Umbrella or you can also use AutoSHSH (Steps are same for all devices). Make sure to select the right firmware version.

i already saved my shsh when i was on fireware 3.1.2 via umbrella firmware now i updated my ipod 3g to 3.1.3 and i’ll jailbreak with spirit . do i need to save shsh again or not?

norton states that it it a virus, this is a faulse possitive just disable the anti virus and run. by the way i had to use it in compatability mode on windows seven 32bit and 64bit no problems then.

Lovely, I Currently Jailbreak using Blackra1n, then I used Spirit, Could not reboot the phone, had to restore my phone to factory default 3.1.2, then Jailbreak using Spirit,

and Yeappy, I installed Cydia and I can now reboot my phone without using the Computer

Using 3GS 3.1.2 on the new Boot Rom, Thank you Comex

    Oh it sound it easy, I have similar problem. I used to JB with blanra1n and then I use the spirit now is stuck at itune and USB logo. How can you restore and how can you install Cydia? How can you reboot? Thank hope you will help me…:)

      IF you Jailbreak using Blackra1n, you will have to Restore “Re-Install” your Firmware via iTunes back to factory default 3.1.2 or 3.1.3, then you can run Spirit, and it will install Cydia for you, thats all, no tricks, I have 5 friends that have done it including me on iphone 3GS 16GB and 32GB

        im having the same problem! i have a 32gb iphone on 3.1.2 and i downloaded spirit and now my screen is locked on the “connect to itunes” screen (cd and usb cord) do i have to restore and upgrade my phone to 3.1.3? please help me with this matter. ive been up for 22 hrs straight!

If you get an error with code c000…05, just right click spirit.exe –> properties –> comptability –> Win 98

My Iphone 3GS wont boot up now after i did this jailbreak, I try to restore this iphone using itunes to 3.1.3 but it still something wrong it wont boot, it always stuck in in itunes logo and usb logo, over and over…. i finish the restore also but when it boots, it come back again with the same problem. please help.

i downloaded this software on my vista laptop and it simply hangs and doesnt respond….i cant even right click the spirit icon to set compatibility

hello am having iphone 3gs with 3.1.2 and i run spirit to jailbreak and am stuck at connect to itunes logo, the phone cant boot always showing connect to itunes, i have try to restore 3.1.2 and i given me error stating this firmwire is not eligible for this phone, is not allowing me to restore back the 3.1.2 and i dont want to upgrade to 3.1.3 to loss my unlock kindly help me how to restore back the 3.1.2. am stuck at the connect to itunes.

  those who want to use SIM cards from any carrier..
  iPhone is locked to official carriers, AT&T is US for example. You cannot use iPhone on other carrier unless u unlock it

Fix doesn’t work, get this error every time spirit is run even after setting the compatability options to XP sp3, win98/me, or win 95.

I have an iPhone 3GS with legit unlock, firmware 3.1.3 baseband 05.12.01 and PC OS Win XP with iTunes 9.1.1. I’ve just downloaded Spirit Jailbreak, when i run it shows ERROR saying (Spirit requires iTunes 9 to function. Please install a correct version of iTunes then run the spirit again). What should i do…i Want to Jailbreak my iPhone…Please help!!! Tnx.

This doesn’t seem to do anything. I run it in win 95/me compatibility mode. the program states success and my iPod Touch reboots. But then nothing’s different… there’s no Cydia icon present or anything. I see no evidence that the iPod was Jailbroken or changed in any way.

What is to happen next after running Spirit (windows / iPod is 3rd gen, brand new and has 3.1.3 on it)?

    I ran again because I didn’t have iTunes running last time. This time the process took perhaps about 15 seconds (instead of 3), but still nothing’s different.
    
    I see nothing in the icons (e.g. Cydia) that’s changed. What exactly is the test to determine whether your jailbreak worked (aside from the program’s confirmation message at its end)?
