I used “iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw” to restore (model A1203)”redsn0w-win_0.8.zip” to jailbreak/reactivate it. Asked me two files “BL-46.bin” and “BL-39.bin” (this was not in the website instructions. Had to use iTunes 8.2 (does not work with older 8.0.1 version). And at this time, my phone is being restored from previous backup.
    Looking great. Thanks heaps.

I followed the steps for jail breaking for the I phone 2G with update of 3.1.2. It was successfully jail broken. But when I am trying to follow Unlocking steps. Cydia is continously crashing it is not opening. I am able to use I phone as Phone (Able to call & receive calls).& also earlier installed apps & data is available. Is there is need to unlock? Why my Cydia is crashing should i have to use other installer ? I am usually installing apps through laptop, Whether I need to use cracked apps patch, I am stuck here, Kindly Help me out.

    • iPhoneHeat 7 November 2009 at 11:32 pm #

If ur 2G was already unlocked before the process then you’re good to go.. skip the unlocking..
If you want to install cracked games then you need to install patch.. for purchased apps there’s no need to patch

      • Mack 8 November 2009 at 9:47 am #

Thanks for your reply, But I want to install application such as video editor and stuff like that which can only be installed through Cydia or such installer. After Jail breaking cydia is installed but it is crashing not opening now in this case what shall i do ? Should I go for another installer ? (Also FYI Cydia was crashing before Upgrading to OS 3.1.2 & Jail breaking ) Can you provide me some solution ? Thanks in advance.

        • iPhoneHeat 8 November 2009 at 8:45 pm #

Make sure upgrade your Cydia when it prompts you.. It fixes the issues like you’re facing
          or use icy

          • Mack 8 November 2009 at 9:08 pm #

I can not upgrade cydia now because it is not opening itself. How to use icy ? what is it ? Also please refer my comment on patch for cracked apps/games forum as that is also giving me error. I have still not connected and synced with i tunes after upgrading to OS 3.1.2 and jail breaking.

succesfully jailbroke 2g 3.1.2. bootneuter does not allow me to set the settings as shown. seems to lock. my lack of patience or something else?

    • iPhoneHeat 9 November 2009 at 9:22 pm #

have you ever unlocked your 2G before?
if you’re getting signals then there’s no need to install bootneuter..
and btw each time you run bootneuter the default settings will be displayed again..

      • rick 9 November 2009 at 10:54 pm #

never unlocked. currently at&t has miserable service for the last 21/2 years and willing to switch to tmobile. want to switch service but need to verify my iphone 2g 3.1.2 is indeed unlocked..

        • iPhoneHeat 9 November 2009 at 11:10 pm #

          then simply open the bootneuter..
set the toggles as displayed in screenshot..
and hit flash button.. if it asks for reboot then reboot first and then try again..
flashing take a few seconds so be patient..

          • rick 10 November 2009 at 1:48 am #

thank you. apparently success this time, however, a long time asking me to wait while determining current settings after the success message. can i still sync through itunes with an unlocked iphone? to update apps, calender, contacts etc.? also, i have changed my settings to NEVER lock… is this correct? thanks again…you have been much help and quick response..

          • rick 10 November 2009 at 1:51 am #

i think i spoke too soon. iphone unable to find network and/or wi-fi..

  10. askmedia 10 November 2009 at 2:10 am #

How long should this take. Also there is a problem with part of my screen. It wont let me change the settings to 4.6 Will that be a huge issue?

  11. rick 10 November 2009 at 6:00 pm #

all steps have been completed. if i open bootneuter and check the settings they come up appropriately as shown in the window. however, i changed the at&t sim card with the new tmobile sim card and the iphone requests me to connect to itunes and only allows emergency phone calling. the tmobile carrier logo does appear in the upper left in place of at&t. i put the at&t card back in and all still works. I am waiting for some direction before allowing the tmobile to connect to itunes. should i go ahead and do it?

    • iPhoneHeat 10 November 2009 at 6:10 pm #

Tap the flash button from the bootneuter.. by setting the toggles as directed..

      • rick 10 November 2009 at 6:23 pm #

after tapping flash, bootneuter tells me there is nothing to do. the toggles already match. i think i am there with the unlock, just not reading the new tmobile sim card. i will try the new sim card again since the process seems to be complete. thanks for your continued support and prompt response.

        • iPhoneHeat 10 November 2009 at 6:40 pm #

ops… Did you Reset Network Settings after reboot?
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings

          • rick 10 November 2009 at 6:54 pm #

do the reset with the at&t sim card or the tmobile sim card installed? if with the tmobile, i can not access my home screen. i am resetting now with the at&t card installed.

Did you ever fix this problem? This is the same problem I am encountering!!! Please help!!!

  12. chris 11 November 2009 at 4:04 am #

I found a solution. I did everything with the 2g 3.1.2 firmware to unlock it but the bootneuter didnt work. SO:

Plug into computer and do a DFU restore (refer to google on how)

In itunes w/ phone connected hit SHIFT (KEY ON KEYBOARD) + RESTORE, and select the 3.0 .ispw (FIND it on google somewhere)

Then run REDSNOW 0.7.2 for WIN or MAC

Continue as instructed. Make sure you hit CYDIA and UNLOCK, not ICY.

Once redsnow is done. After reboot. I just put in a TMOBILE sim card and i got service no problems, works perfectly!!!!!!!!!!

  13. pop 11 November 2009 at 10:39 pm #

If my 2G was previously unlocked using RedSnow is all I need to do is upgrade to 3.1.2 and run blackra1n… is that correct

Sorry for the lame question but I dont want to screw it up

    • iPhoneHeat 11 November 2009 at 10:46 pm #

yes.. upgrade> blackra1n if no signals > reset network settings..
Still out of luck? Install bootneuter

  15. qnguye 20 November 2009 at 3:56 am #

Question please – I have 2g upgraded to 3.1.2, jailbreak and unlock with blackra1n. Everything when well. After I ran blackra1n for jailbreak, it unlocked my phone also! when I installed bootneuter and ran it, bootneuter just showed then exit without allowing me to do anything. Is there some wrong? Second question – now as I look at my modem firmware it shows 04.05.04_G. Should it have gone to the 05 version since I upgrade to 3.1.2? Everything works ok so this is no big deal but I am just curious. Sorry for my ignorance and many thanks

    • iPhoneHeat 20 November 2009 at 4:56 am #

If you had already unlocked iPhone then there’s no need to install bootneuter after jailbreak :)

      • qnguye 20 November 2009 at 5:20 am #

Thank you so much for the advice. what about the modem firmware – should the modem got upgrade by 3.1.2 to the new firmware? Many thanks again. You are super!

modem firmware doesn’t matter for 2G so forget abt it :p

  24. Schwagg 2 December 2009 at 12:48 am #

I have a jailbroken/unlocked iPhone 2G on firmware 3.0 (7A341) with baseband 04.05.04_G. I want to make sure I’m doing the right steps since I don’t want to harm my baby.

    1. Upgrade iTunes to 9.0.2 and install the latest firmware 3.1.2 on the iPhone (at this point my iPhone will only be able to make emergency calls and I will not have access to my home page, correct?).
    2. After the iPhone reboots, I should download and run BlackRa1n RC3. From what I understand, this will require no input from me (other than click “make it ra1n”) and it will reboot my phone automatically. That should jailbreak my iPhone and it will put a BlackRa1n app on my springboard (which should now be available to me).
    3. Run the BlackRa1n app and select Cydia. Since my phone is already unlocked, I shouldn’t need to unlock it, correct? However, I should install bootneuter from Cydia and run it if it is locked for some reason.

Does this method seem correct? Also, will I lose all of the apps that I currently have installed? Should I make a backup before and restore to that backup afterward? What about my pictures, music, settings, ActivateMMS2G, etc?

    • iPhoneHeat 2 December 2009 at 1:21 pm #

      You got it absolutely Right!

      @ apps & backup..
Backup is recommended.. after backup everything will be saved (pictures, music, settings, iTunes Apps) except Apps installed from Cydia.. you need to install them again..

    • stu 3 December 2009 at 7:14 pm #

      Hi there,

I’m in the same position as Schwagg. I have an iPhone 2G (running 3.1.2, FM is 04.05.04_G). I’ve installed BlackRa1n OK. I’ve installed Cydia OK. I’ve also installed and run BootNeuter, and that worked too (or claimed it had).

I then inserted a Vodafone UK SIM card, and my iPhone tells me that “Different SIM detected”. So my phone can only make emergency calls – although it looks like it’s connected to the Vodafone network.

Like Schwagg, I’ve tried running BlackRa1n again, twice, to no effect. I still get the same message about “Different SIM detected”.

What am I doing wrong?! So close and yet so far… any help much much appreciated!

      • iPhoneHeat 4 December 2009 at 1:09 am #

        Insert the SIM..
Put iPhone into recovery mode.. (press home + power button until iPhone reboots and iTunes and cable appear on the screen)
        run blackra1n..

I performed the jailbreaking process and downloaded Bootneuter. Ran it till the screen that it successfully finished. Then it will go to determining settings message and just hang there. I reset the network settings before and after reboot and have toggled between version 3.9 and 4.6 to get it to load again but no success! Thanks IPhoneheat. Just wanted to share my experience.

I had the iphone 2g with OS 3.0 Unlocked and Jail broken. I downloaded the IPSW file for OS 3.1.2 and restored it using itunes and then used the blackra1n. Once it finished installing the blackra1n, my phone was jailbroken and Unlocked and it picked up my t-mobile service right away. I did not have to unlock the phone again. So this was pretty fast and quick for me. I checked the system and it shows me that I have 3.1.2 OS and itunes also confirms it. Hope this helps others.

Thanks Iphone heat. I now have to jailbrake and Unlock my refurbished iphone 3g S which i just bought. Any tips for that? let me know.

Why not try another USB Port or on another computer…
if it fails again (it should NOT) then you have custom firmware to try.. available under iPhone Firmwares category

ok. before trying the custom firmware. i put the phone in DFU mode then retored it. then used blackrain. and it worked! thx! for the support!!! now i have to try it on my 3gs

      DID you install Bootneuter?
if yes/you already had unlocked 2G earlier, then make sure to reset your network settings

In bootneuter it is saying determining current setting. Its been like that for at least 20 min. i just realized my wifi isnt working and i cant get it back on. could that be the problem. Also i tried resetting network settings.

hey my man, did everything you said, but no luck, the bootneuter hangs up for 4 minutes then it shows that a restore is needed then whenever i click ok it keeps trying to determine the current settings.. my god dunno what to do, a little help would be appreciated =)

Please help me, if I have a 2G iphone firmware 1.1.1 unlocked 2 years ago, can I upgrade it to 3.1.2 by this method? BlackRa1n RC3, BootNeuter
    Thank you in advance.

Ok, I got through the jailbreak and bootneuter with no issues, my 2g boots ups but only shows ’searching’ for signal. I have a basic regular at&t sim card installed and just want to unlock the iphone for basic service without the expensive contract.

Anyone know what I need to do?

did you try resetting network settings

  47. [...] you need a carrier unlock, redsn0w will handle iPhone 2G by itself (by installing our BootNeuter utility). For the 3G and 3GS, use Cydia after you’re jailbroken to install ultrasn0w [...]

This worked for me on 2g. Great, Thanks

  49. iPhoneHeat 8 November 2009 at 9:33 pm #

Why not you perform a fresh restore and rejailbreak your iPhone.. after that first thing u do is let the Cydia update
