According to a Press release, AT&T is finally enabling the long awaited MMS feature for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G users on 25th of September.
We know many of our iPhone customers are eager for an update on our rollout schedule for Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS). We’ve been working for the past several months to prepare our systems and network to ensure the best possible experience with MMS when it launches – and that launch date is: September 25 for iPhone 3G and 3GS customers. MMS will be enabled through a software update on that day.
Yes, it’s coming for iPhone 3G and 3GS but, if you have a look at the press release, the banner shows an iPhone 2G which does not even supports MMS officially.
However if you have a jailbroken iPhone you can use the following guide to enable MMS on iPhone 2G:
AT&T has also published a video to explain the delay of MMS feature from there end even though it was available in iPhone OS 3.0:
Nice move by giving details on the issue and the improvement that AT&T is going to introduce in their network. Much better than being silent when customers are moaning about their service when on the other hand Apple is going to introduce more carriers.
What about iPhone Tethering? AT&T does not even bothered to say a single word about it. I guess we have to wait a little longer, may be till the end of times :p.
However, jailbreak community is also enjoying the Tethering feature:
Are you going to stay with AT&T when there are more carriers? Happy to get MMS officially? drop us some lines..
