how do i remove a passcode from an iphone 2g i found??

    • Lex 19 January 2010 at 7:57 pm #

As each phone has its own serial number which is registered, you should maybe try to return it to the owner first. That being said, it depends on what model the phone is. But you could try putting the phone in DFU mode, connect to iTunes and then restore to factory settings. If phone has authorized carrier sim card, then update to latest OS using iTunes; if not, update with custom OS and then jailbreak and unlock it.

Thank you. The Jailbreak worked fine. The Unlock is the problem. It says “different sim detected. Please connect to itunes”. I can’t access the apps, messages, phonebook, etc. & all my calls are emergency calls. Please help me!! Did I do something wrong or do I need a new program??

    • iPhoneHeat 8 January 2010 at 6:17 pm #

emergency screen means it’s not jailbroken.

      • Randomguy 9 January 2010 at 5:17 am #

So what do I do? I can access the apps w/o a aim but it does that whenever i put my t-mobile sim in the phone. I’m at a loss

        • rosenater 15 January 2010 at 3:18 am #

I thought you had to start with the sim in….
maybe not though….I have t-mobile too and plan to try to jailbreak tonight…did you find an answer to this problem?

          • Randomguy 16 January 2010 at 10:49 am #

Nothing. Gonna try & get a 3rd party to help me out

        • iPhoneHeat 16 January 2010 at 3:15 pm #

You should have read the guide from the start..
it’s an old guide and there’s a link at the top to the new one for OS 3.1.2 under >> Update: (Nov 6 2009)

          • Lex 19 January 2010 at 8:01 pm #

Leave the sim card in the phone when going through this process. Do not update the phone using the iTunes version of the OS. Use the custom OS instead, which you will install on your phone by holding down the shift button on your computer while clicking update and install in iTunes. Then follow all the other steps in this tutorial.

Im stuck on the waiting for reboot menu what do i do

  17. Lex 19 January 2010 at 7:50 pm #

This worked perfectly for me. I have an iPhone 2g which was previously jailbroken and unlocked to 2.2.1 OS. Started experiencing shutdown problems after updating some of my apps through iTunes. Realized those updates were meant for phones that were updated to 3.0 OS. Used the custom 3.0 OS and then proceeded to jailbreak. I did note that when I added a 3rd party app through Cydia that phone started to shutdown again. Deleted the Cydia app and phone is no longer shutting down. Be careful of adding third party apps if you update to 3.0 OS. Convinced that certain 3rd party apps do not play well with the 3.0 OS.

Wow, thanks so much for a clear and easy-to-follow tutorial (and to all the users who posted helpful hints & tips). I’m now in business using my iPhone 2G 3.0.1 with T-mobile (no data plan) and wi-fi.

  19. mrf 24 January 2010 at 11:35 am #

I did all steps exactly as it said, and when it started rebooting, the screen on the iphone changed to “downloading jailbreaking data” and then the phone got locked again and I already repeated the process two times and it happens again what can I do?

    • iPhoneHeat 24 January 2010 at 11:57 pm #

follow the latest guide linked at the top

  20. ricky1717 1 February 2010 at 7:56 am #

I have one problem though I connect to a wifi network but when I try to open an app that requires wifi (Cydia for example) I get an error unable to load, or Youtube which says not able to join at this time. I have full bars on wifi connection when I did this. Please can someone help…
