Apple Seeding iPhone 3.0 GM (Gold Master) Build 7A341 to Developers With WARNING

Apple is now seeding the iPhone OS 3.0 7A341 GM (Gold Master) to developers but warns it will lock your iPhone into “testing” mode.

This version of iPhone OS 3.0 should only be deployed on devices dedicated for iPhone OS 3.0 GM Seed software development. By installing iPhone OS 3.0 GM Seed software on your Authorized Test Devices, these Devices are permanently “locked” into testing mode and cannot be restored to an earlier release of iPhone OS. Bear this in mind before installing the software.

We haven’t given this release a shot so we strongly suggest that normal users DO NOT install the iPhone OS 3.0 7A341 GM seed which will be available everywhere soon, thanks to torrent.

Uh, this warning has been on every beta release. It’s nothing to worry about.

Penn, my iphone was also locked after installing 3.0 GM. By locked, I mean I can now only use the SIM card from the primary carrier. Any others give an activation error in itunes and no service in the iphone. Is this what you’re talking about?

I have a support request open with apple developer connect, so will see what they say.

but how to unlock\activate it

Jesse June 17, 2009, 3:07 am

Exactly Azaz. Hopefully they’ll fix / add 3.0 compatability to their activation servers once 3.0 is public and then it’s just a matter of doing a restore, which triggers a connection to the iTunes Store for the activation (with original carrier’s SIM installed).
