Method 2 – VoIPover3G

VoIPover3G also let you use SlingPlayer mobile over 3G and Edge. VoIPover3G tricks the application into thinking that it is on Wi-fi even though it is on a cellular data connection.

For this iPhone Hack, you need to install Mobile Substrate, OpenSSH and VoIPover3G (reboot after install). All these are available in Cydia:

When you’re done with the installation, you’re good to go.

    1. SHH into your iPhone using WinSCP or any other SSH client
    2. Navigate to

      /Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries

    3. open VoIPover3G.plist with any text editor
    4. Look for:

Filter = {Bundles = (”com.Fringland.Fring”, “com.apple.AppStore”, “com.audiofile.Interstate”, “com.apple.MobileStore”);};

  1. Now add this part in the end (including (,) and quotes):

    “com.slingmedia.SlingPlayer”

  2. New code will look like this:

    Filter = {Bundles = (”com.Fringland.Fring”, “com.apple.AppStore”, “com.audiofile.Interstate”, “com.apple.MobileStore”, “com.slingmedia.SlingPlayer”);};

  3. Save changes and copy the files back to the same directory:

    /Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries

  4. Reboot your iPhone

SlingPlayer should now work over 3G!

Have Fun! and Don’t forget to share your experience.
