Some of the specifications available in the iPhone OS 3.0 Beta indicates that the next Generation iPhone will support a new Broadcom chip BCM4329 that will bring support for 802.11n Wi-Fi, as per Appleinsider report.
The current chip for Wireless in iPhone is Broadcom chip BCM4325 that supports 802.11b/g Wi-Fi. You might know that 802.11n is the latest wireless network technology and gives five times greater performance as compared to current 802.11g available in iPhone. It means Next Generation iPhone will be able to find and join 5GHz networks.
Chances of such Rumors about iPhone to become a truth are quite high as Apple is aggressively introducing latest wireless tech in their devices.
