How to Install and Use Icy for iPhone | Step-by-Step Guide

how-to-install-and-use-icyAs reported earlier that RipDev has released Icy (a Cydia Alternate). In this iPhone Guide we will guide you through installing Icy for iPhone and how to use Icy iPhone. Topics covered under this guide include:

You need to jailbreak your iPhone or iPod Touch and install Cydia to follow this guide. If you have not done yet, follow your respective device link:

OK. Lets get started.

How to Install Icy from Cydia

From you Jailbroken iPhone Springboard, Launch the Cydia.

Go to Manage Tab available at the bottom of the screen and add the following source in to Cydia:

http://apt.ripdev.com

When you’re done with adding the above mentioned source, Open the newly added Source by Tapping it.
Then from the listed packages, choose Icy.

On the following screen press Install button at the top right corner.
and then Press Confirm to start the installation.

Icy then will be downloaded and installed.
When done, press the Big Return to Cydia Button.

Press the Home button and guess what! There’s a newly added Icy icon on your SpringBoad.

How to Add Source in Icy

Launch the Icy from your iPhone SpringBoard.

Go to Sources Tab available at the bottom. Press the Edit button on the top right corner.
Then Press + button available at the Top left corner of the screen.

Press Add button
Then input the URL that you want to add and Press Add button.

Press the Done button at middle right side.
Then finally press Done button at the Top right Corner.

See what! Your added Source URL is now on the list.

How to Install an application in Icy

Launch the Icy from your iPhone Springboard.

Go to Sources Tab at the bottom and notice it’s loading (A spinning wheel) all the packages available in all the sources when you first time open the Icy.
Go to Categories Tab and press the search button at top right corner

Now search for BiteSMS and select BiteSMS from the search results.

Press the Install button at the top right corner of the screen. (You can check package detail by clicking the circular arrow button next to package name)

Icy will start installing your selected application, BiteSMS in this case. Installation process comprises

  • Preparing
  • Downloading
  • Installing
  • Finishing

When Done, Icy will take you back to Main page of the Package.

How to Remove/Uninstall an Application from Icy

Open Icy from your iPhone SpringBoard.

Go to Installed tab at the bottom in Icy and tap to select the application that you want to remove.
Then Press the Remove button at the top right corner.

Removal process will take you through

  • Preparing
  • Removing
  • Finishing

After completion of Removal process you will be taken back to Installed packages list where you would not find the package you just removed.

    I have updaded and unlocked my 2g phone to Iphone 3.0 firmware. I do not have cydia or Installer now. Please tell me how to install ICY without Cydia.

    I DOWNLOAD ICY FROM PC USING CIDER. THEN IT IS ADDING TO CYDIA PACKEGES (WITHOUT WI-FI). OPEN CYDIA-MANAGE-PACKAGES- ICY IS THERE. OPEN IT. IT CONTAINS REMOVE OPTIONS IN RIGHT SIDE CORNER(INSTEAD OF INSTALL). BUT IT DOESN’T SHOW ON HOME SCREEN. PLEASE HELP ME.

    Did you restore your firmware before jailbreaking your device, if not an you just clicked restore from backup, your device will write over the files you previously had and in some instances not show those files. You will need to restore to 3.0 firmware then jailbreak.

      Cydia come with jailbreak.. So follow any guide under Jailbraak category

    I have updated my iPhone 4 to 4.0.2, but how can I downgrade to 4.0.1 so I can jailbreak the phone?
